Rugby "Jinx" Broken

Poverty Bay Rugby supporters were beginning to think that there was a jinx on Rugby Park. Since its opening a year ago, the home team had failed to score a single victory on the new field.

Then the Bay, bolstered with East Coast men, met Hawke's Bay and the jinx was broken. The combined team gained a convincing 20-6 win over the highly-rated Hawke's Bay side.

Outstanding for his hard-running play was P. B. winger Mick Cossey
