Mr Bill Newcomb who has been re-elected president of the Gisborne Cosmopolitan Club. A Gisborne transport operator, Mr Newcomb has been elected to that post no fewer than nine times and served an additional six years as a member of the executive.

Mark Irwin, the son of Mr and Mrs W. L. Irwin, Gisborne, who captained Otago against the Springboks although he is only 21 years of age.

Constables A.S.V. Tait and A. W. Cooper, of Gisborne, who recently received the Police Medal for long service and good conduct. The medal is presented at the end of 14 years' service, provided the officer's conduct has been meritorious. Constable Tait is district clerk & Constable Cooper is arms and aliens officer.

H. Holmes, K. Morse, & Mrs E. E. Wauchop of the Gisborne Swimming Club. At the club's annual meeting, Holmes & Morse received presentations in recognition of their long service. Mrs Wauchop was also honoured for her work as the club's secretary.
