Beautiful Jungle

Usually the Jungle brings connotations of peril and adventure but it is also the home of some of the more exotic orchids. A veritable jungle of beauty then was the scene in the Kaiti Hall when members of the new Orchid Society staged their first show. It's just a pity these pictures are not in colour to do the scene justice.

A constant stream of people taxed the hall's capacity over the two days of the show.

At the show's opening are the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs Harry Barker, Mrs Rose Bell (first year president), and Mr Bruce Constable (a founding member).

"Wyanga Elanora," exhibited by Mrs Beryl Ellmers, won the South Pacific Award for form, colour, clarity and depth of colour. It is a 4-year-old cymbidium in green and yellow.
