An important event in Wairoa recently was the Waiapu Diocesan "Hui Topu" and synod held at the Takitimu meeting-house.
Mr Fred Carnie who succeeds the late Mr R. D. Donald as P.B. Turf Club secretary. He relinquished his post as secretary of the Cook Hospital Board after 8½ years' service to enter private practice.
Mr Paul Sceats, new judge for the P.B. Turf Club. His appointment followed the retirement of Mr W. L. Paterson, of Wellington, who judged for the club for 14 years.
Mr Reg Hine, of Manutuke, who has been elected to the management committee of the N.Z. Pony Clubs Association. He is a foundation member and president of the Gisborne Pony Club.

The Rev. A. L. Silcock, Baptist Minister in Gisborne, and Mrs Silcock, who are to leave shortly for Christchurch. Mr Silcock has accepted a call to the Colombo Street Baptist Church after completing almost nine years' service here.
