Tenacious To The End

A fantastic tussle between Mick Sheridan in 'Nicolette' (158) and Jim McKay in 'Topaz' was the feature of the Gisborne Atlantic Dealers' Two-Hour Power Boat Race on February 15. Under ideal conditions the two alternated in the lead all the way. However, the big Auckland inboard carried just too many guns for the local twin outboard over the very last stages and opened up the deciding gap in the last lap.

Typical of 'Nicolette's' performance was her ability to make quick tight turns in the harbour basin, gaining a distinct advantage over 'Topaz' for length and weight.
