Santa On The Move

Christmas 1974 left no option for Santa but to travel at the speed of light — almost! He just seemed to be everywhere at once.

At the Te Hapara Plunket Mothers Club youngsters stood entranced as they waited for their names to be called and collect their presents. Lots of Christmas parties were held although our camera did not always coincide with Santa's arrival.

Christmas is not alt getting, however, as the pupils from the Waimata Valley School indicate. They, pictured here with some of the people at Dunblane, visited Dunblane, Te Wiremu House and the Memorial Home. They gave the residents of each establishment flowers and presented them with a programme of Christmas carols.

At the Christmas party for the "Aerodrome Children" the big attraction was the magic of "The Great K.M." Paul Cousins gives the magician some assistance as the other children look on, with looks ranging from wonder to amusement.

Father Christmas made an evening visit to the most enjoyable Christmas party and dance held in the I.H.C. Donnelly Centre in Temple Street. Santa Claus poses with the group for the camera before distributing his largesse.

For the youngsters of members of the Cosmopolitan Club a great party was held at the Racecourse at Makaraka. Apart from the visit of Santa Claus the highlight of the programme was the Christmas Handicap Sack Race, for very high stakes, One erstwhile punter was even heard to remark "The way some of my picks go i reckon these kids would be a better proposition!"

A most enjoyable function was held, at the Health Camp to mark the festive season. A "fashion parade" was staged for the large crowd and the participants hammed it up no end, giving everyone a good laugh. Taking part were, from left, in front, Kevin Tipo, Ronald Salter, Sammy Albert, Derek Renata and Tai Smith. At back, Derek Leaf, Frank Kopenga, Dion Whitehead, Kenneth Lamb and Paul Botica.

"Silent Night" was beautifully presented by this group before the arrival of Father Christmas.
