Golden Wedding

Mr and Mrs Jack Booth of 13 Bayly Street celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary with a dinner party at the Orange Grove Motel Dining Room. The Booths were married in Brisbane but Mr Booth has spent all his working life in the freezing works industry having worked progressively at the Taruheru, Waipaoa and Kaiti works, actually retiring from the Gisborne Refrigerating Company as works manager in 1963. Mrs Booth, the former Miss Lillian Jones, met Mr Booth when she was on holiday in New Zealand from Australia. She stayed in Gisborne where she took a job with Elliot and Crawshaw (later to become Ball and Crawshaw) being the first girl they employed.
