High Speed Attraction

A ton of speed and plenty of noise created a real racing atmosphere for the large crowd at the second annual Gisborne Motor Cycle Grand Prix. Straight and sidecar events for all classes provided plenty of thrills and interest for all.

Away with a roar at the start of the Awapuni 350cc event.

Gary Boote on his Yamaha 700 "Levi" takes the lead with six laps to go and wins the top event of the day, the Gisborne Herald Unlimited. He also had no trouble taking the Max Barrington open scratch race.

John Woodley on his Yamaha 350 heads Martin Bayliss (also on a Yamaha 350) home in the Awapuni 350cc. Both riders also finished in the same order in race three, the TAS 500cc
