Scout News

Several certificates and warrants have been awarded on the Gisborne Scouting scene recently.

At a Tainui Sea Scout meeting Mr John Chamberlain (left) presented three certificates and warrants. These were to, from left, Kerry Corbett (second class), Jim Campbell (Scout leader) and Frank Robb (assistant Scout leader). Mr Chamberlain is the Turanga District commissioner.

Also at the same meeting Mrs Zillah Smith, Turanga District Cub leader (right) presented Cub instructors certificates to, from left, Jane Wise, Karen Robb, and Julie Norman, while Michael Boag received his Cub leader's certificate.

At a Mangapapa Scouts parents and sons evening warrants were received by, from left, Messrs Royce Williams (assistant Scout leader) and John McKay (Group leader). These were also presented by Mr Chamberlain (right).

Also at the Mangapapa meeting the much coveted wood badges were awarded to, from left, Scout leader Stan Wilson and Cub leader Jan Gambrill. These were presented by Mrs Smith and Mr Chamberlain.

During the recent Air Force display at Gisborne, members of the Te Hapara Scouts and Cubs groups took advantage of the one fine day to look over the display of aircraft.
