Nursing Certificates Presented

The annual presentation of prizes and certificates at the Cook School of Nursing took place in the recreation room of the Nurses Home at Cook Hospital on September 20. A large crowd of parents and friends attended the function.

Mrs R. White, wife of the chairman of the board, presented the trophies to the cup winners and they are, from left, Sharon Lambert (Laing Memorial Trophy), Gillian File (Miles Cup) and Kathleen Williams (Miss Bunt Rose Bowl).

From left, Lesley Smith (4th year certificate), Sarah McGhee and Josephine Niblock (6 months maternity).

Josephine Niblock (obstetrics and gynaecology prize), Jennifer Chamberlain (first year aggregate prize) Denise Dunstan (consistent progress prize) and Beverley Beattie (third year aggregate prize).

Registered general nurses gaining their certificates were, from left, Beverley Beattie, Kathleen Williams, Diane Hunter, Jenny Douglas, Robyn Glenny and Margaret Maxwell.

In the officiating party at the nursing function are, from left, Mr Brian Laity (chief nursing officer). Sister Pierce (vice-president, Gisborne branch, N.Z. Nurses Association), Sister Mildred Newing (principal tutor, Cook School of Nursing), Dr Mackay (acting medical superintendent, Cook Hospital) and Mr Richard White (chairman of the board).

Those who received their Registered Community Nursing Certificates included, from left, in front, Susan Clayden, John Hill, Valerie Goodall, Sharon Tichbourne, Andrew Weir and Shirley Mabey. At back, Marion Clayden, Wendy Edwards, Elaine Humphries, Kitty Pedersen, SherryI Winder and Janet Giddons.
