Slick Sewing

Two Japanese girls were at the Farmers Trading Co. store recently, demonstrating Toyota sewing machines, and their dexterity had to be seen to be believed. The girls, who both spoke perfect English, intrigued shoppers, with their quick ability to sew names on to hankies on the machines. They did this for customers who then received the hankies as gifts.

After only three weeks as a member of the Golden Group in the Western Building Society, Mr S. Peipi was lucky enough to win a draw. He had the option of a $12,000 interest free loan or $3000 in cash. He elected to take the cash and is seen here receiving his cheque from Western's Gisborne sales representative, Mr W. Enoka.

A recent graduand from the Hastings Memorial Hospital is Margot Moss. Margot, who is the daughter of Mr and Mrs F. H. Moss, Leon Street, is now on the staff of the Hastings Memorial Hospital.
