The Power Of The Box

Such is the power of television, and its personalities and characters, that a crowd of about 600 people jammed the barriers of Gisborne Airport to see actor Raymond Burr of “Perry Mason” and “Ironside” fame in person. He made a half-hour stop-over on a private flight to drop off paraplegic athlete Eve Rimmer, who came to Gisborne to speak at the Crippled Children's Sportswoman of the Year Dinner. Mr Burr, himself, takes a personal interest in the work of crippled children societies and paraplegic organisations.

Trevor Davey, and swimming star Jaynie Parkhouse.
