Now Gisborne Is Getting One

An old-time Victorian Musical Hall of course! After the fantastic success of “music halls” in both Auckland (2 years continuously) and Wellington (over 18 months), Gisborne is to have a music hall company, also of professional standard. Audience participation is half the fun of these shows. You can cheer the hero, and hiss and boo the villain in the melodrama, and enjoy the entertainment in a good old-fashioned way. The Music Hall starts at the Sandown Park Hotel on September 14 with dinner and show, but it is also ideally available for conventions and conferences. Alison Thompson, who played in Auckland music hall prior to coming to Gisborne to live, has formed the company, thus bringing to Gisborne a new dimension in entertainment.

Pictured in the “Bathing Belle” scene from the show are, from left, in front (in Music Hall Jargon) Mr Roger Flury and Mr Terry Wood and, at back, Miss Christina King, Miss Alison Thompson and Miss Veronica Walker. At right is the accompanist, Miss Joan McKenzie. Mr Robert Moles, who was, unfortunately, deprived of the opportunity of having his picture took with the assembled company, will be “chairman.”
