Getting Ready For The Action

Members of the Gisborne Speedway Club have been having some great help from contractors around the city in organising improvements to the track at Awapuni. Trucks and machinery from Monks, Phelps, Smiths, Jukes, Mangapapa Garage and Sheepfarmers have all been at the track, where a lot of work has been done.

Soil has been moved from the parking and banked up around the perimeter. After this, consolidated tiers of seating will be built to give much improved viewing and a lot more seats for spectators.

The track itself is also undergoing a regular overhaul.

The uneven area between the Awapuni Road entrance and the track is being levelled off. It is the soil from here which is being used for the seating banks. This area will now be grassed and provide much more room for parking.
