Successful School

The second annual music school held in Wairoa recently drew a large number of keen musicians from all parts of the North Island. The seminar lasted six days and tuition in a varied number of instruments was undertaken by very qualified tutors. Among those attending were Gisborne people Julie Watson, Alison Martin, Valerie Martin, Deborah Strange, Robin Strange, Kay Aberhart, Robin Berry, Ann Korte, Robert Sinton, Pare Keiha, Stuart Livingston, Jimmy Watt, Malcolm Sibley, Tony Speakman, Francis Tahataand Charles Wilkinson. Ten-dollar scholarships at the school were won by Alison Martin, Deborah Strange and Kay Aberhart.

Sisters Alison ('cello) and Valerie (viola) Martin also have a unique relationship In that both play in the Gisborne Civic Orchestra, both are members of the Gisborne Youth Orchestra, and both belong to the Gisborne Girls' High School Orchestra.
