The Y.M.C.A. Ladies' Auxiliary recently presented the association with new gym equipment — a beat board, and a mini-trampoline. Some of the ladies present at the handover are, from left, Mesdames Jessie Carswell, Jean Headley, Barbara Thomson (treasurer), Merle File (president), Margery Tuiloch and Joyce King (secretary). Mrs King also made a personal donation in the way of $200 for the purchase of the new beam.

The new programmes worker and physical instructor is Gai Jenkins. Miss Jenkins, who comes from Australia, has previously done work on a voluntary basis in the Sydney Y.M.C.A.

Former top amateur and professional boxer Earl Nikora has taken on the job as trainer to the boxing gym. He will be.assisted by five members of the Gisborne Boxing Association committee. He'll need some assistance — there are up to 80 boys training twice a week! Mr Nikora, who held a considerable number of junior, senior, middleweight and light heavy-weight titles during his boxing career, takes the hoys through some of those essential-for-boxing physical fitness exercises.
