The Turihaua photographed last year leaving Gisborne harbour. Every year since 1952 the Turihaua has been involved in some kind of mishap. Recently she added to her record by denting some hull plates on Walker Rock, off Cape Jackson.

As the official wreaths are laid on the war memorial at the Anzac Day service, there are probably not many in the big crowd present who spare a thought for the women who assemble at the Army Hall each year to make these beautiful floral tributes. Like couch grass, mint is a persistent grower in the garden. In the yard of an upper Childers Road home, this root grew right through a child's rubber ball which was lost in the garden.
