First of Awards

The first of the Gisborne Eco Awards, to be made to an individual or group under the "I Care" environmental protection promotion (being run by the N.Z.B.C), was presented to the younger peoples group, "Session." This group is very much aware of the environment and its need for protection, and their massive cleaning up of Makorori Beach for which they were given the award (see Page 47), is only one facet of the awareness and outlook they have on pollution in general, and Gisborne in particular. The Eco flag was presented at the environmental headquarters, the H. B. Williams Memorial Library.
