Reaching the top and playing even better golf looks to be the sporting future of Gisborne Park Golf Club member Frances Pere. Frances was a member of the New Zealand women's team which came second in the International Tournament at Royal Sydney, the team losing to Australia by only half a point, and finishing ahead of Canada, Britain and Japan. Frances won two of her four singles games and only went down at the 18th in one of her losses. She combined with Sue Hamilton in the foursomes, winning one and losing three. More is sure to be heard of this 18-year-old golfer, the daughter of Mr and Mrs C. J. Pere, Patutahi.
