Toy Contest Winners
The forty-five girls of Form II at St Mary's School prepare to board the bus for their educational trip to Rotorua. Over there they stayed at Kiwi Ranch, which offers good hostel-type accommodation for school trippers. This group also exchanged greetings and information with their counterparts from Wairoa, at Kiwi Ranch, from where they all conducted their educational sorties around the Rotorua area.
The two regional winners of the national Hitachi Powertool Home Workshop competition were Messrs Bill Sefton, 19 Cobden Street (left), and Charlie Squire, 305 Ormond Road (right). Both men, who are pictured with the manager of Radio Gisborne, Ian Vernazoni {where the entries were judged), have won powertools. If one of them is fortunate enough to win the national final he will get a complete powertool setup for his home workshop. All toys entered in the competition will be given away to needy children at Christmas.
