Changing Face

There are many changes taking place on the building scene in Gisborne with construction still progressing in spite of some shortages of materials.

Part of the building programme at the Edmund Campion College which is expected to be completed for the start of the 1974 school year. St Mary's College will move into the new buildings, thus making better use of the teaching staff between the two colleges.

This is the foundation pad for the first Caltex oil tank which will be erected near the Kaiti Beach Road, a short way past the Cook Memorial.

The three bitumen holding tanks adjacent to the overseas wharf are well on the way towards completion.

The tortuous Lytton Road dip will be a thing of the past after the new crossing has been completed.

The final pouring of the foundations for the extension to the I.H.C. Hostel was about to take place when this picture was taken last week. The new wing is to cost $50,000 and will provide 10 more beds.
