Marie McEwin, a 21-year-old teleprinter operator with the Post Office, won the contest for the Commonwealth Games Victory Hostess, conducted recently. Marie, who is the daughter of Mr and Mrs V. W. McEwin, 727 Aberdeen Road, was sponsored by J.W. O'Donoghue Ltd.

The Poverty Bay Golf Club's course at Awapuni asserts many posers and, as well as being picturesque, is regarded as one of the more challenging courses in New Zealand.
