National Award To Puha
Winners of the national award for this year's Olin Maize Yield competition were.
Messrs Russell McGregor (left) and Archie Bayley of Puha. Their yield, per surveyed acre, was 237.36 bushels. The award was presented in Hamilton on August 9. Mr McGregor and Mr Bayley were also, of course, presented with the local district award at a function at the Sandown Hotel, on the previous Tuesday, where these pictures were taken. The prizes were presented by Dr K. J. Mitchell, director of plant physiology division, D.S.I.R., Palmerston North, who also addressed the gathering.
