How Cold is Cold?

Too cold for most, we reckon, on June 21. However, that didn't stop about 40 swimmers taking a dip in the briny at Midway on the shortest day of the year.

Promoted (or prompted?) by Radio Gisborne, the swimmers took to the water at 7.30 a.m. and a description of this world shivering event was broadcast l-l-l- live!

Frolicking in the surf at that ungodly hour was lots of fun. (Eh?).

These three mermaids don't look too cold — and they don't look too warm either!

You could hardly say Bruce Gledhill looks as though he's in the tropics.

If you don't call this cheating, what do you call it? Barry Mabey and Bernie Brown take the easy way out.
