Athletic Champs

Some good times and fine efforts were recorded at the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay Athletic provincial championships. The events were held at the Childers Road Reserve, where the track eased slightly after a heavy shower early in the programme.

Olympic athlete Terry Manners lapped the field to easily win the senior men's 10,000 metres.

Stephens also showed his versatility by taking the senior men's 110 metres hurdles.
