Cooling Off
After much effort and hard work in raising the necessary money, the Waingake School Baths committee saw its project come to fruition with the official opening of the pool on December 17. A large crowd of parents and pupils turned up for the occasion.
A Miss Waingake Swimming Pool contest was held, and the winner of this was Tanya Hayes (on left). She is pictured with the other entrants who are, from left, Angela Toon, Kerry Harding, Christine Hayes, Donna Gordon, Wendy Harding, Elizabeth Gordon and Ruth Easton.
