Into the Back Country
A party of 20, under the organisation of the newly-formed Gisborne Philosophical Society, climbed Mount Arowhana, near the head of the Waipaoa River, recently.
Mount Arowhana, showing once-forested land which has been denuded by forest fires.
The Te Weraroa stream, where soil erosion is so bad that the area is now under Catchment Board control.
Members of the party enjoy a "cuppa".
Another view of Arowhana, showing burned-off areas.
