Mr and Mrs F. J. Butler, who have retired from the custodianship of the Memorial Home in upper Ormond Road after a period of 15 years.

Plans are afoot for alterations and improvements to the home, in which a number of older residents of Gisborne and district spend their later years.

Memorial Home is really home for these older folks, who find there a refuge which has many compensations: companionship, security, hobbies, and recreations which pass away the days. There is usually plenty of banter going on.

Or as with Mrs Knight, there are moments for quiet reflection on days past.
