He Loves to Paint

One of Gisborne's Chinese community, F. S. Wong, has an all-absorbing hobby. He loves to paint. In the past 12 months he has completed over 300 sketches and paintings, some in oils, some in water-colours. A member of the Gisborne Art Society, Wong has an infectious enthusiasm for his work which has made him a familiar figure in the district, where he is often to be seen busy with his easel and palette recording some picturesque scene. When the Art Society ran a fete recently to raise funds, Wong found himself equally at home on the produce stall (see next page).
