A Star Returns

Kiri Sings

Gisborne-born Kiri Te Kanawa thrilled a capacity audience in the Regent Theatre on July 19, when she gave a soprano recital there. Fresh from her triumph at Covent Garden, as the Countess in Mozart's 'The Marriage Of Figaro,' this daughter of the East Coast gave a flawless performance in items which ranged from Mozart's 'Alleluia,' and Handel's 'Let The Bright Seraphim,' through to the traditional 'The Last Rose Of Summer.' Kiri's associate artist was the Auckland pianist Barbara Connelly, who delighted the audience with her two solos.
