On a visit sponsored by the Women's Division of Federated Farmers, Paraplegic Olympic Games gold and silver medallist Eve Rimmer proved that being a paraplegic need not necessarily stop one from enjoying sport. She sPoke to a large crowd in the St Andrew's Hall. A driving force in the EdgeeumbeKawerau club, Mrs Rimmer was here to foster interest in the formation of a branch of the Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Association. There are all kinds of sports in which physically handicapped people can indulge, Mrs Rimmer said, including archery, javelin, shot put, discus and billiards, to name a few. Eve Rimmer holds the present paraplegic world record in her class For shot put (21' 10½") and javelin (47' 6").
