Scouting World

A tramp through State Forest 93, near Rakauroa, was undertaken by Rangers and Venturers from Kaiti and Te Hapara, recently. Getting in amongst the natural bush areas, virtually on our back doorstep, gives an improved and balanced outlook on life for city dwellers.

Three members of the Te Hapara Cubs, pictured investigating a small octopus, on an exploration trip to Sponge Bay Island, not long ago. About 20 Cubs and leaders took part in the exercise.

An incident course was held at the Hole-In-The-Wall on the afternoon of Anzac Day, with a goodly number of Venturers, Rangers and Scouts taking part. Two of the number are pictured here plotting a compass course through the swamp.

St John Ambulance and Police Officers gave up some of their time to supervise the actions needed to be taken in the event of a road accident.

Fire fighting was undertaken by the group and then later

shown the correct way to go about it by members of the Fire Brigade, who also gave up their time.
