Kay Smith, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. R. Smith, 52 Collins Street, graduated recently in Maternity Nursing at the Hastings Memorial Hospital. Kay is now back in this city and nursing at the Gisborne Maternity Hospital.

Producing sounds of unbelievable sweetness is Mr Frank Butler on his musical saw. Yes, an ordinary crosscut saw is held as shown and played with a violin bow. Its range is not particularly wide but the purity of sound is quite amazing. He is accompanied here by Mrs G. Adamson, as they play for an Old Folk's social.

Eleven members of the Girls' Brigade 6th Gisborne Company spent an evening at the Red Cross Room recently, mending clothes and replacing buttons This was part of the work in getting their Pioneer Community Service Awards.
