Miss Jean Thomson, pictured returning to Gisborne on leave, will be retiring from teaching in Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan) after 31 years' service. A senior member of the Baptist Mission in Bangladesh, Miss Thomson's name was frequently in the news when no word of her had been heard during strife in that country. Miss Thomson has said that she hadn't been in any extreme danger. She will be retiring at the end of the year. She is accompanied here by her father, Captain Alex Thomson, and her sister, Mrs Ethel Gledhill. (Dunstctn & Kinge).
