Our Cover

Those who took the trouble to go down to the wharves on the morning of February 20, were treated to a spectacular display of fire-fighting capabilities by the Wellington Harbour Board's new million dollar tug, 'Toia.' The tug experienced engine trouble on her delivery voyage from Whangarei and put into Gisborne port for repairs. The 'Toia' is considered to be the most powerful tug of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. Apart from its fire-fighting capabilities, the tug can turn in its own length and also move sideways!

Back Cover. Our back cover shows three Monarch butterflies which have just hatched out. These butterflies live on the "swan plant" and their life cycle is a popular study with many girls and boys, and not a few adults, we'll wager! These butterflies were photographed at the Gisborne Club, where they were looked after with great care by the manager's daughter, Lynnette Freeman.

Erratum: In the skating picture on page 62 of last month's issue we inadvertently named Susan Burborough as Susan Braybrook. Our apologies Susan.
