Speed to Burn

Once again, the Gisborne Power Boat Club's two-hour race drew more than 60 entries. This year Radio Gisborne sponsored the event, which was noted-for the even class of speedsters in the open class sections, and also for the bigger number of breakdowns than usual.

The top prize-winner in the open class section was John Meredith's 'Formula,' seen here speeding in for the tight turn in the swinging basin.
