The Gisborne Jaycee presented their awards for the year of '71 at their annual cabaret, held just before Christmas. The recipients were, from left, Messrs Gary Robinson (Jaycee of the Year), Maurice Dudfield (most active new member, and impromptu speaker award), Graeme Day (membership award), Robin McGreivy (best presented project), Mike Brittenden (best master at arms for the year), and president Les McGreevy (captain president's team in car trial, and winner of intercommission debating contest). Absent: John Webley (most unusual project), and Neil Eagles (oratory cup).

Mr Sid Horsburgh has retired as merchandise manager of the Gisborne Sheepfarmers Co., after 14 years in that position. Mr Horsburgh who was in business on his own account in Sydney, and the Taranaki district before coming to Gisborne, has retired in Auckland.

Pictured with the new banner for the Holy Trinity Parish are, from left, Mesdames Phyl McLeod, Eve Smith, and Laura Hawthorne, secretary, president and treasurer respectively of the Afternoon Branch of the Holy Trinity Family Fellowship, who presented the banner to the parish. The banner, which is beautifully worked, was made especially by Mrs D. Holderness of Havelock North.

The winner of Adairs' Make Money Contest, which finished early in December, was Nurse Margaret Wright of the Cook Hospital. The prize included a return flight south to Invercargill, with free accommodation in that city for one week. Mr Colin Bell, Gisborne manager of N.A.C., is seen presenting Miss Wright with her prize tickets.
