And Something To Wear

This giant Christmas stocking is being raffled by the Squash Club. Interest in the sport has become so intense, and facilities taxed to capacity, that plans are in hand to build two new courts and extra room onto the pavilion, Club members John Cording and Murray Hollis do their thing at selling tickets. At right is a young lady who hopefully believes Santa will bring her the stocking.

Mrs Jane Horne, a committee member of Unity Theatre, is convening a Christmas entertainment project for children, Called "The Christmas Cracker," entertainment will be provided by Unity Theatre, the Gisborne Folk Music Club, the Waihirere Junior Maori Club, and the Jean Goodwin School of Dancing, amongst others. There will be matinee performances on December 18 and 20 at 1.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. The programme looks as though it will fill the bill to a nicety, particularly as it has been some years since any entertainment has been provided for children during the Christmas holidays.
