Founders Day Ceremony

In the ideal settings of the Botanical Gardens Gisborne Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, Brownies, and Wolf Cubs paraded on Sunday, February 26, to honour the birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scout movement, in a Founder's Day ceremony. The colourful parade, headed by the Caledonian Pipe Band, marched into the gardens by the Roebuck Road gate, and formed up in impressive array on the extensive lawn fronting the river.

The salute was taken by Mr J. R. H. Cooksley, the Dominion headquarters Commissioner of the Boy Scouts Association, who addressed the gathering on the work and qualities of the founder.
