Dancing High

Members of the P.B. & E.G. Highland Dancing Association acquitted themselves very well at the A. & P. Show last month, and a presentation function was held in the Guide Hall to hand on the trophies to the winners.

Winner of the prestige award, the Burns Shield, was Jackie Dodd. Jackie also won the Hardenbol, Tobacco, Robertson Memorial, Piping and Dancing, and Berridge Cups.

Muriel Topp (left) won the Richardson, McKay and Gunn Memorial Cups. Hilary Sewell (centre) took third place in the novice fling medal, and Kim Dunstan won the MacDonald Cup.

Coralie Campbell (left) won the McLennon Cup, while Juleen Webster won the Nigro Cup.

The Gisborne Women's Representative Volley Ball team will compete in the national championships in Wellington on the nineteenth and twentieth of this month. We wish them the best of luck and hope they will return home with some of the trophies. The team is, from left, in front, Betty Boyd, Miriam Hellens, Dianne Rogers and Esther Morrow.
