A capacity audience attended this year's Maori Competitions and once again the standard was extremely high. These pictures, of the Combined Boys' and Girls' High School Group, show something of the grace and movement in the action song and haka.

Mere's gestures in this part of the action song indicate Maoritanga. The action song was a new one, both the words and music being composed by Mrs Maaka Jones, who trains the group.

This movement by Denise Whaanga denotes pleasure that the men are coming through the group, from the back, to perform the haka "Ruoumoko".
