An historic occasion marked the visit of some Ruatoria school pupils and their teacher to Ngaruawahia recently. The occasion was the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Turanga-waewae Marae by Princess Te Puea. Part of these celebrations included a re-enactment of Maori warriors sailing their canoes on the Waikato River.
