Among the many activities during that period was the presentation of a welcome sign in eleven languages to the harbour board. The sign has been erected on one of the light towers at the overseas wharf where it can be seen by overseas ships as they come into port. The Red Cross library service was presented with two donation boxes which will be left in each branch of the A.N.Z. Bank for books and donations. Receiving one of the boxes from Jaycee vice-president Dick Barclay are Miss G. Clifford-Jones (Red Cross president), and Mesdames E. Hutchinson and T. Warner.
