21st in Mangapapa Brownie Pack Attains Majority

The Mangapapa Brownie Pack attained its majority recently and a most enjoyable party was held in the Bryce Street Hall to mark the occasion. The honour of cutting the cake went to the pack's first Brown Owl, Mrs Margaret Hatton, and the youngest Brownie at the party, Fiona Grimson.

At the cutting of the cake are, from left, Miss R. Bunt (Provincial Commissioner), Mrs Hatton, Fiona Grimson, Mrs S. Garrett (Brown Owl), and Mrs V. Ivess (District Commissioner).

For Yvette Wilson it was also the step up to Guides and the receiving of the golden hand. Yvette has now left to live in the Wairarapa.

Twenty-one years ago Mrs J. G. Nugent was a Divisional Commissioner when the pack was formed, Mrs P. Compton a Commissioner and President, and Mrs L. Balfour a Provincial Commissioner.

Past pack and trainee leaders Jennifer Piesse and Suzanne Lamont (who are going to be assistant Brownie Guiders this year) are pictured with Mrs Garrett and un-uniformed assistant Mrs J. Bardes.
