Necessity is the Mother

With the free kindergarten having a waiting list of 18 months, and private kindergartens too far away, mothers in the new Sherriff housing subdivision have got together, under the sponsorship of the Waikirikiri School, to form their own pre-school education groups. At the moment there are about five groups operating in the area with the mothers personally supervising the children's activities, on Monday and Wednesday mornings. The first to start was the Lyell Road group and they recently held a visitors' morning for other mothers and groups in the area. The groups are run on play-centre lines but still need equipment. (If you have anything suitable you could leave it at the Waikirikiri School).
