The four Scouts from the Gisborne district who leave soon for the world Scout jamboree in Japan were officially farewelled recently at a joint gathering. The boys did the haka they will perform in Japan, for the gathering. Pictured prior to doing their stuff are, from left, Brian O'Connell (Takitimu), Martin Baker (Waiteata), Ian Amor (Mangapapa), and John Benson (Takitimu). A noteworthy feature of the trip is that in eight months the local Scouts, Cubs, and their supporters raised the $3000 necessary for the journey.
