The Port Lyttelton, shown here at the overseas wharf, sailed for Napier and the United Kingdom after loading more than 2000 tons of frozen meat, the largest consignment to leave the port of Gisborne in one loading. Wool and a variety of general cargo were also loaded for freighting to the U.K.

H.M.N.Z.S. Inverell, the fisheries protection ship, paid a four-day courtesy visit to Gisborne recently. Five officers and 65 men comprise the ship's complement. The Inverell, seen here berthed at No.3 wharf, was launched in Australia in 1941 and served on convoy escort duty during the war.
