Contentious Subjects
Organised by the new vicar of Holy Trinity Parish, the Reverend John Bluck, a series of Friday Forums is proposed for one Friday night per month, depending on availability of suitable speakers for the chosen subject
The first of these forums drew a packed house at the Fish Bowl in Derby Street where five speakers formed the panel for the discussion on drug taking in the community. After those on the panel had spoken, the subject was thrown open to the floor and some lively discussion followed.
Four of those taking part were, from left, Dr Michael Hewitt (medical), Andrew Davy (meditation teacher), Lud Sparkes (probation officer) and the chairman, John Bluck. The first speaker was a reformed drug addict and the second a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
