Founder's Day Had Special Flavour This Year

Founder's Day, when Scouts and Cubs recall their enduring obligation to Lord Baden Powell, the man who started it all, had a special air about it this year.

With Hmnzs Blackpool in port, not surprisingly the guest speaker was from the ship. He was Lieutenant Commander K. W. Hinks. Members of the Blackpool's crew also took part in the regatta held later in the day. Another event of note was a presentation of awards to long-service Scout personnel, those devoted and much appreciated men and women who give their time to the movement. These Medals of Merit and Chief Scout Commendations were presented by the Area Commissioner, Captain Ian McRae.
