Top Students of 1970

Top students for 1970 at the city's five colleges are pictured on this page.

Dux of St. Mary's College was Gillian Adsett. She will return to college this year for scholarship work after completing bursary work last year. Gillian is shown with the cups she also won for French, German and mathematics.

Edmund Campion College dux was Mark McGuinness. Mark also returns to college this year for scholarship work.

Andrew McNab leaves for Canterbury University where he intends to major in Zoology. As well as winning the Rhinesmith prize for Boys' High School dux, Andrew was also awarded the Frank Foote Memorial prize for the best all-round pupil, the first time one student has won both prizes.

Glennice Blackman was dux of the Girls' High School. Glennice leaves for Waikato University this year on a four-year course for B.A. with honours. After that she intends to teach.

Lytton High's top girl was Susan Lawrie. Susan, this year, goes to Massey University to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree.

Top boy at Lytton was Robert Kilpatrick and he goes on to Auckland University to work for his Bachelor of Engineering degree.
